Lynne Mapp Drexler (American 1928-1999) Landscape gouache on paper In pinks greens and yellow - 24 x 18" purchased from the artist. Lynne Mapp Drexler has had a significant reappraisal of her work in recent decades. Drexler began her career in New York studying with such luminaries as Hans Hoffman and Robert Motherwell . Despite promising early shows at Tanager Gallery and other New York Art institutions Drexler moved to Monhegan Island in Maine for a life of solitude. Since her passing in 1999 her work has garnered significant interest as a member of the New York school and an important abstract expressionist, with numerous articles in art publications. (See New York Times 2022). This piece comes from the collection of Marianne Shaw Blanchard, a resident of Monhegan Island, Maine. Marianne was an avid art collector, and befriended Lynne Mapp Drexler.
